Another wild week of games — felt like every matchup had a twist. A few underdogs really came to play, and those late swings made the leaderboard fun to follow. Crazy how tight it was again heading into MNF… these tiebreakers are going to make or break a lot of us .
Looking forward to Week 3 with a full slate — feels like no one’s safe at the top. Good luck everyone, should be another rollercoaster!
NFL Picks 2025
Re: NFL Picks 2025
Week 3 underway and everyone going for the Bills in game one. Bit of an obvious choice and so far looks like everyone will get one point under their belt. Even if Miami somehow turn it around all of us will be on the same score going into Super Sunday.
A lot of variations coming then and looks like we will have a bloodbath over the whole day. Cannot wait. What a start to the season so far.

Re: NFL Picks 2025
Sunday evening and still 6 people with a chance. RC needs a bit of a miracle and regardless tomorrow night will be decided by the Tiebreaker. Got to fancy Benjun to have a big chance with the lowest at 45. But it could be a high scorer and then it blows wide open.
Week 4 is open for entries and this time I know I am going for something different. Another 16 games week the byes must be starting the week after. Or maybe the NFL have forgotten about them in the excitement. Good to see some different names up there though. That is what a couple of upsets do. Get them right and you can walk away with the whole lot.

Re: NFL Picks 2025
We have a winner for WEEK 3! Another nail biter last night and I am not talking about who won the game. I mean the score for the T45iebreaker. With 5 people spread over just 45-58 a lot of people would have thought that Benjun wit the lowest would be a clear favorite. No so as the Lions and the Ravens kept pumping the scoreboard. After Benjun's fall then came Vinny, John, Pablo until in the 4th quarter there was only one winner, Nathan with the highest entry. 68 points in total during last night's game.
And so to week 4, another full 16 games and TWO Monday night's games. A lot of people keep missing that point, and I do not know why I try to highlight it. Just too keen I guess, Anyway enough about week 4, here is week 3 winner Nathan with all his loot. Congrats Nat!!! Our first remote winner.

Re: NFL Picks 2025
Just a quick note to anyone wondering why I was late putting out the winning sheet today. Pretty much everything I do on Up Your Mama runs on what is available for free on the Internet. Even the email addresses are hosted on Zoho Mail and are free, a typical domain email address would cost $20 per month.
With Zoho mail when I resend a message it drops the bcc content and I forgot to reattach when I sent out the sheet this morning, so I got it but no one else did. Another service I use is email.js for sending out the automatic mails when I move the entries into the game database. These are kept as Firestore collections. I am near the monthly free limit of email.js so am trying to migrate over to Brevo which has a much larger allowance but it gets complex when your website is rooted to a server-less host. I gave up today and may try again tomorrow. All of these tweaks can disrupt the site sometimes but I try to keep to a minimum.
I think it is worth it. The reason I made the new top ten leaderboard was to cut down on API calls and firebase read/writes but it turned out great, at least in my opinion. I may have to send out manual emails this week once my email.js runs out if I don’t get around to Brevo in time but then the monthly count will reset next week.
Onwards and upwards and all that. Hope to see everyone back for week 4.

Re: NFL Picks 2025
Week 4 underway and another excellent pot. Still really need a reliable way for anyone to be able to pay remotely. PayPal works fine but the charges for small transactions is high. Still better than a lot of options though. People struggling to pay with Revolut and I do not know why it would be ideal with charges as low as 8 cents. Give it a try it does work for a lot of people. Will do more research on this.
There are a couple of items still to fix up with the NFL but they can wait. For now concentrating on getting NHL set up for the upcoming season. That will be more of a fantasy hockey picking your team for the regular season. Should have at least the entry in place in a few days in time for start of the season. Then will look at the other features like live scoreboards and considering making it a tailored experience for every user. A few options are going around my mind.
Anyway NFL is still the king for now. Good luck to all those that entered this week. Someone will get the lot again.

Re: NFL Picks 2025
Week 4 done, a bit of a thriller on Monday Night but as always there can only be one. And that one was Hallvar, well done to him. Another new winner shows it can easily be you.
Week 5 open now for entries, this will be the last full participation week I believe. We may keep the competition going when we are all away depends on the feedback I get over the coming days really. Maybe some Picking fatigue starting to show but we see what the final pot holds in store.
For now though congratulations to Hallvar it was a close contest for week 4.

Re: NFL Picks 2025
Week 5 already under way with another good pot up for grabs. Did you go for the 49ers? That was a bit against the spread but an excellent pick for those that got it. Sets you up nicely for the weekend. It’s gonna be interesting again.
Some people have asked if we keep the picks going for the next few weeks when we all spread out. Sure we can. Online payments are all working and you can give cash up front if you want. You know we are good for it. And anyone reading this that does not us. You are most welcome to join in.
Good luck to everyone for the next games.

Re: NFL Picks 2025
So that is that! Sunday night and week 5 already over. Has happened in the past and will happen again in the future no doubt. Results will be sent out tomorrow but pretty obvious since we have two leaderboards showing the result. Well done to Scott.
Remember we are keeping this going even over the coming weeks. You can give me cash before you go. Or pay online it really is secure. Or retire gracefully. Your choice.

Re: NFL Picks 2025
Final live ceremony for a few weeks. What a few weeks it has been, 5 weeks 5 winners.
That is not the end of it though, we will continue. And then in another 5 weeks start all over again. But remember the picks are going every week remotely. And so is the hockey.
